Feeding stingrays is one of the most popular daily activities in Banyan Tree Vabbinfaru. The stingrays swims to the shore half an hour before the feeding time every day. Guests of the resort can gather on the dock of the beach and watch the charming marine biologist Robert Tomasetti feeding the stingrays. The most widespread species in the Maldives is the Black Stingray which can grow to a diameter of 1.5m. According to Robert, they only feed the stingrays a little fish so they won’t develop dependency.

I was very lucky to join a school program orgainzed by a local school and Banyan Tree Vabbinfaru. The marine biologists and the diving coaches of the resort brought the girls out to the sea and taught them snorkeling.
